Eigenschap: Geel of roodachtig geel poeder, bij blootstelling aan licht en gemakkelijk te veranderen. Smeltpunt (graad): 888. Kookpunt (graad): 1535. De relatieve dichtheid (water=1): 9,53. Onoplosbaar in water, onoplosbaar in ethanol en opgelost in salpeterzuur, azijnzuur, hete loog.
